As a prelude to the July 17th Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring veterans of the 65th Infantry Regiment, The MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center in collaboration with Community Voices Heard, is pleased to invite you to the screening of - “The Borinqueneers” - the untold story of the only all-Hispanic unit in US Army history. Through vivid testimony of the regiment’s veterans and archival footage, the film traces the unique experience of this group of soldiers. Having performed with distinction early in the Korean War, the Borinqueneers of the 65th faced their greatest challenge in the fall of 1952, when more than 100 soldiers were arrested. Directed by Noemi Figueroa Soulet and narrated by Hector Elizondo, "The Borinqueneers" is a film worth watching.
