More specifically, the show extends Dr. Avery's dissertation research, which denudes the unwitting silence of the black female choreographer by the dominant voice of society based on interminable perceptions of the black female body given America’s portrait of the black female in media, film and other art forms. The show gives breath to the image of the black female post Marvel’s Black Panther.
Dr. Avery completed her doctoral journey and is presently freelancing as a teacher-education-consultant/pilates instructor.
