Program Pages

MNN has created a new way for you to share the programs you make at MNN with your audience.

MNN would like to provide you with your own program page on the MNN website. Your program page will have a dedicated MNN URL and can become THE place for viewers to learn about your program and to view past episodes of your show. Check out the current Program pages here.

MNN would like to invite you to be among the first certified producers to have access to our new program page initiative.

This screencast explains the whole signup process, and how to edit your information for your Program and each show:

FAQs - NOTE: this is only open to a few Producers right now, we will increase capacity as we test the system.

How do I sign up?

  1. Login to Access Center. - Note: If you've never used Access Center before learn how to set a password and log in here.

  2. Clicking the Edit link next to any project for which you are the primary producer.

  3. Scroll down, ensure all the information is correct, updating as necessary to make sure you’re providing a full and accurate account of your Project.

  4. Select “Yes” from the dropdown, click the checkbox to confirm acceptance, and click Save at the bottom of the page to complete the process.

How do I make my Program stand out?

Video might be the most important content on the web, but it's metadata that rules video; the significant details about each video.

The more detail and information you can provide about your program, and each individual episode, the more likely it is to be found online. No matter how great your work is if the title and episode description don't say who was on the show/ what the topic was you are massively limiting the chances of it showing up in search, and anyone watching.

By adding as much contextual info as possible to each episode - particular topic(s), guest(s), links to relevant people/ organizations/ articles/ etc. you will greatly extend the reach of your shows.

How do I edit my Program information?

  1. Login to Access Center, and click the Edit link next to any project for which you are the primary producer.
  2. Update any information then click Save to complete the process.

How do I edit information for individual shows?

  1. Login to Access Center, and click on the project you wish to access - you must be the primary producer.
  2. Click on the Shows tab.
  3. Click Edit for the particular show you wish to update.
  4. Update any information then click Save to complete the process.

How can I find the URL for my program on mnn.org?

Go here to the main MNN.org Programs page and type the title of your Program into the “Search title(s)” box, then click Search. You can then click on your Program and copy the URL to use to publicize your work.

When will this be online?

Once you have confirmed you wish to have a Program page in Access Center, it should appear on mnn.org within 24 hours. We can’t estimate how long each show will take to go online, it depends on many factors. Sometimes it might be a few hours, on other occasions, it might be a few weeks, and it won’t go live on mnn.org until it has played on an MNN channel.

How does this work?

After you've signed up your shows will be automatically added from this point onwards.

All shows will be hosted on Archive.org, a non-profit library dedicated to preserving all media. They will host high-quality versions suitable for broadcast by other Community Media Centers across the US, as well as videos one can embed on other websites, social media, etc.

All producers will still be able to upload their videos anywhere else they wish: YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

All content will be subject to the terms of MNN's Program Agreement, and will be given a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license (CC BY-NC-SA), which ensures the shows are clearly copyrighted as the producer's own, and allows for playback by other Community Media Centers.

You can stop using this service at any time you wish, but any existing videos will remain on Archive.org, and the Program page will remain active on MNN.org.
