Street vendors face many problems in New York City. One of those issues is the cap that limits the number of licenses given to them since 1981, provoking a significant increase in black market deals. Street Vendors Project advocates for street vendors rights. Their goal is to convince the City Council to issue more licenses in order to allow street vendors to have the opportunity to operate their small businesses fair and square and help the economy of the city.
