Cinematography and Camera Improvement will teach students more advanced techniques within cinematography. The students will hit upon the topics of history, camera movement, lighting and coloring. While not mandatory we also encourage those who have cameras to bring their own as to learn more about their own equipment to us in the future, however students will be able to reserve Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s on-location video equipment packages as well. Students will be working in groups to work on a number of exercise and projects, gaining skills along the way. The students end goal will be to have a working knowledge of all cameras and shot creation, along with content to put on their reels.
Producing media that creates change requires its producers to be well and be aware of their own feelings. This is the case for the media produced at MNN’s Youth Media Center, which is the result of critical thinking and reflection on the self and the community. Through our Mindfulness course, we will explore elements that are needed to produce media that has an impact.
Open to all NYC youths ages 16-24, every Saturday from 3pm-5pm
In this course you will learn the essential components for basic filmmaking and storytelling such as camera operation and editing.
This 2 hour Orientation will be a great opportunity for interested students to meet the staff, learn more about the YMC, and register for upcoming classes.
